About Me

This blog is a space for me to share some of my favorite things in the world with others -delicious fresh vegan foods, culinary indulgences, and ideas for entertaining.

I used to write all the time — journals, blogs, poems, everything! After finally getting a job as a writer and editor for an online trade publication, then a food trend writer for various websites, including SheKnows and Menuism, I found myself writing less and less on my own time. This is my chance to remedy that!

There is nothing I love more than sharing life's little pleasures with my friends. Sharing food, pictures, and words that might make someone's day a little brighter is what life is all about.

I try to focus on fresh, local Californian ingredients and vegan cuisine, but I mix in some holiday treats and the like when the feeling is right!

Feel free to reuse any of the pictures on this site as long as each image is linked back to the post where it appears and due credit is given.

  5. Hi,

I work with FARM, the Farm Animal Rights Movement, and we are working on developing a recipe resource site: Compassionate Holidays.

We love your recipes and photos, and we are hoping you will grant us permission to use some in our collection. We will, of course, give you credit and link to your site.

Thank you for your consideration; I hope to hear from you soon.

    Fond regards,

    Shemirah Brachah

  6. hi -- sorry to contact you this way, but couldn't find a way via sheknows. i enjoyed your article on 2018 food trends, but want to offer a (small) correction. the reason science is showing that a gluten-free diet may be bad for people without celiac is because those people are avoiding whole grains, probably through a lack of good education. if you follow a gluten-free diet that includes whole grains, you get more than sufficient nutrition. personally, i wouldn't recommend a GF diet to people who don't *have* to follow it (as one who must be GF), but it is not inherently any more dangerous to people than a non-GF diet. also, love your site -- i do a lot of vegan cooking, so appreciate discovering new foods!

  7. Hi Justina, I just finished reading 21 Vegan Casserole Recipes to Feed a Crowd, which you wrote back in 2017. I found it on https://www.brit.co/vegan-casserole-recipes/. One of the recipes was called Crispy Pumpkin Cheese Pasta Bake. When I clicked on the link for the recipe, it took me to a site called Avomaniac, which is a Spanish language site completely devoted to amateur pornography. I googled the name of the recipe, and every site that has it claims the recipe came from Avomaniac. My Spanish is not good, but I could see no references to recipes (apart from the kind that obviously deal with bedroom cuisine....). Do you have another reference for the recipe? I did manage to find the ingredients from Laura Kalinski on Potluck, but there were no instructions.
